WatchDog ABS
02/02/07 AOpen

Why we call it WatchDog ABS?
AOpen has always been originative in giving users the more powerful and convenient functions. Being inspired by automobile technology, we developed and applied “WatchDog ABS” feature on our motherboards. The well-known ABS (Anti-Lock Braking Systems) was generally acknowledged as one of the most important inventions in automobile industry. ABS can prevent the brakes from locking up and skidding during emergency braking or when the brakes are overheated. ABS gave AOpen the earliest conception of “WatchDog ABS”, which is used to reboot the system automatically when failed in overclocking.

How does WatchDog ABS work?
When you power-on the system, the BIOS will check last system POST status. If it succeeded, the BIOS will enable “WatchDog ABS” function immediately, and set the CPU FSB frequency according to user’s settings stored in the BIOS. If system failed in BIOS POST, the “Watch Dog ABS” will reset the system to reboot in five seconds. Then, BIOS will detect the CPU’s default frequency and POST again. With this special feature, you can easily overclock your system to get a higher system performance without removing the system housing and save you the hassle from setting the jumper to clear CMOS data when system hangs.
