How to flash BIOS of your AOpen Motherboard
To update the latest version BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) is a very efficient way to improve performance and correct errors of your system. Years ago, flashing BIOS of motherboard is a high risk action and requiring advanced skill. But for today, the same action is like a walk in the park. The new and stable software helps you to go through all process in your familiar operation system such as Windows XP. Below, we will take AOpen i975Xa-YDG as an example and explain the whole process to flash BIOS of motherboard step by step.
Step 1: To confirm the model of your motherboard
 You can find the model name on the product box and manual. If you lost them, you can open the case of your system to read the model name on your motherboard. |
Step 2: To download the latest BIOS of your motherboard

Visit AOpen download page http://download.aopen.com.tw/Default_prod.aspx and locate the model name of motherboard and download the latest version of BIOS.

Picture 2: Check the model is correct then select the nearest download mirror of your location. Save the ZIP file in folder that you can find it easily such as desktop. |
Step 3: Unzip the downloaded file and you will get three files, two executable files (WICA17.exe and ICA17.exe) and a BIOS file (ICA17.BIN).
Note: The number after WICA and ICA will be different by version and model. |

Step 4: Depending on the operation system you prefer to perform the flash job. The WICA17.exe is for Windows 98/ME/2000/XP and ICA17 is for DOS. Here, we take WICA17.exe in Windows XP for example. Double click on WICA17.exe, there will popup a dialogue window as below:

Picture 3: Click on “Save BIOS” and save current version of BIOS then click “Start Flash” to update the BIOS.

Picture 4: Wait until all process complete and there will be a window popup asking you restart, save and close all applications then click “YES” to reboot your PC to finish the whole flash process. |
Step 5: BIOS update completed !
